The Parts of an e-Cig

Overview of a vape pen

If you have never vaped before and are thinking about the prospect, you could find yourself in a mine field of vaping terms that are unfamiliar and down right off putting. Seriously, don’t stress because in this article we are gong to dismantle a vape pen and explain the different components. Vape City is all about education in the process of vaping.

In the vape pen diagram above you wil see an exploded diagram of a vape stick, now not all vape pens look the same but it must be said that the functional parts of the vape pen are all the same. So don’t stress if you don’t like the physical aspects of the vape pen above and are looking for an explanation about the vape pen you would like to buy. Just remember in principle all the vape pens operate in the same manner and all the vape pens have the same functional parts.

Drip Tip

The first part of a vape pen is the drip tip, Vape City will soon stock a range of these suckers, the main purpose of the drip tip is to give the user something to wrap their lips around. Vaping is a little intimate like that and the more you partake in this part time the more you will see that vape is not only about inhaling the vapor it has much more to do with socialising and relaxing and to do this your lips need to be comfortable. The drip tip also has functional significance if you wish strip away all the pleasure and really get down to the nuts and bolts of function. In function, the drip tip also stops the e-liquid from entering your mouth in an un-vaped state.

Vape USB charger and wall adapter

The vape pen usb adaptor is another crucial part of your vaping hardware. Having one of these bad boys means that you can charge you apes battery whilst you are sitting at your computer. This is however not a complete prerequisite and you can buy a wall adaptor that the vapes usb cable can plug into to draw power from the wall socket.

Battery and / or battery case

As I mentioned earlier, vapes come in various different shapes and sizes and the batteries are no exception. You could purchase a vape pen with a lithium ion battery that is built into the battery case. Your vape may require you to purchase and fit rechargeable batteries in which case you would require a battery case with an on off switch which would house the batteries. The cool thing about this setup is that you can really pimp up your vape in a style that suits you. The batery cases aslo know as mods come in various shapes and sizes. They all house the vapes power supply but man do they look different on the out side. It is because of this that you can create a vape look and feel that suits you.

e-juice tank

This is where I really am amazed as all vape tanks are not created equal. In fact you have as much flexibility in choosing your tank design as you do in choosing your battery case mod. The tank holds the e-liquid and atomiser is essentially connects to the battery on one end and the drip tip on the other, completing the vaping hardware setup
THe e-juice tanks come in various shapes and sizes and will hold varing quantities of e-juice depending on your requirements.

Atomiser or cartomiser

All good things have to get technical and this is where you have a massive range of choices as to how you would like your e-juice to be turned into vapour. In this section or the vaping articles I will describe the difference between the various different atomisers. In short all the components here are technically atomisers but are setup differently and to distinguish between the different setups the parts were labelled differently by the vaping community.

We will start with atomisers. Atomisers have a limited capacity and are generaly suited to individuals who don’t mind filling their atomiser vials often with e-liquid. A great benefit of this is that you can change between e-liquid flavours quickly with very little mess. I say this because every experienced vape user has split all their
e-juice all over the floor and so will you. It’s a right of passage.

Cartomisers on the other hand have reservoir which will hold e-juice. The e-liquid is then fed to the coil via wick which is in the form of a packing around the coil. The cartomiser was the next advancement in atomisers as it could hold more e-juice and give the user a longer vape time.

Last on the list is the clearomiser. The clearomiser is the latest design of the atomiser on the market and is the most popular. Essentially a clearomiser comes in three different components. The fist is the tank itself, This is the reserviour for the e-juice. Inside the take you have a coil and wick. the wick is a long piece of string that feeds the e-juice onto the coil, in the same fasion as the cartomiser but the setup is different, giving the tank a much bigger volume of e-liquid it can hold.

E-Juice or e-liquid

E-liquid is the liquid that is turned into vapor by the coil. The e-juices come in various flavours. In fact there is a growing community of individuals making their own flavours giving users who vape a very wide range to choose from. The great news is that you should never get bored. Different flavors a very easy to come by.
